Why we use this test: SIBO or, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, is a common gastrointestinal condition in which bacteria in the large intestine becomes present in the small intestine and produces excess hydrogen and/or methane gas. For this reason, we use a breath test to accurately detect the presence of SIBO.
Pricing: $249 paid directly to the lab via providing a credit card number on the requisition when you send in the test.
Lab Information: $249 is the cash price but If you have a PPO insurance, you can opt to have the lab run your test through your insurance. To do this, simply provide your insurance information on the requisition and check the box that says “PPO”. Provide your credit card number as well because if insurance doesn’t cover the test, they will charge your card the cash price.
Additional information: Occasionally patients will have adverse reactions to drinking the liquid required for the test (nausea, upset stomach, cramping), this is uncommon but it has happened so we like to give patients a heads up and encourage you to collect the test on a day when you don’t have anything important going on, just in case you don’t feel your best.
